A few years ago we visited Montserrat outside of Barcelona. Not only is there a Benedictine Monk retreat that you can visit but there is a mountain trail that offers wonderful views. At least that is what I heard. On the day we went, it was raining. That didn’t deter us. We headed down this trail. It was eerie, wet, and a blast. I’m not sure what we missed since we couldn’t see much, but it was entertaining. And neither one of us was injured. That’s what I call a success even if it didn’t go exactly to plan.

Did you know that Catalan girls are sometimes called Montserrat, or Montse for short? Maybe you didn’t get the views, but perhaps you picked up the atmosphere.
We did get a feel for the place. And I didn’t know that about Catalan girls. Thanks for the bit of information.
beautiful photo.. love it..;)
thanks
That is an excellent picture – so creepy!
Lynn
Thanks Lynn.
Oh no, it reminds me of when i went up Snowdonia!
Snowdonia…that sounds cool!
Beautiful photo. I’m not sure I would have risked a mountain trail in the rain.
Fortunately all of it worked out for us. And we weren’t the only crazies on the trail which helped.
WOW! Great photograph. Thank you dear TBM, love, nia
Thanks Nia.
Looks very… moist.
I’m sure it was cool though!
Very cool!
That looks like an awful lot of rain. Glad you made it to where ever you were going safely.
We got soaked and I really enjoyed a hot cup of tea afterwards.
Ohh Monk retreat! That sounds so peaceful. I wish I could be a fly on the wall in your travels
Come along!
I love to walk in the rain and fog. Great post. Thank you for sharing
Me too! It give such a sense of a place, even if you can’t see much.
oh…you can make a horror story from that photo
It does have that feeling to it.
I love Montserrat, my father used to take me there for a hike when I was little. Nice photos!
It’s beautiful there. We enjoyed the hike and the retreat. I would love to go back…and I adore Barcelona. One of the best places we’ve been.
That is an awesome picture!!! I love it!! All misty and mysterious looking!!!
Now I need to write a mystery and have this as my book cover.
Of for sure!!! That would be perfect!!!
it looks like a fun walk for sure – glad you made it out okay
It was fun. A little chilly, but fun.
It does sound like your trip was a success, but I don’t know how you could have seen much from this picture! lol
It made it difficult. I think we passed a church of some sort, but I couldn’t make it out
It does look eerie, and mysterious. Glad you had a blast, regardless!
Nice shot!
It’s hard not to have fun when we’re on vacation. Both of us are extremely easy going, which helps.
I’m glad you went out in the rain. Some people go very far and then just turn back and stay indoors. But I love that you did this. The very same thing happened to me when I went to Sydney. It was my dream trip. The ONE and when I got to the Opera House…the ICON…the one thing other than Uluru that I wanted to see…dude it was raining. But I didn’t care. I stood out there admiring the Opera House and the harbor. No umbrella. The Aussies might have thought…crazy American.
Oh that is a shame that it was raining, but good for you! We can’t let unplanned events throw us off. Embrace the moment, no matter what. And I love the no umbrella aspect. I can see you there taking it in.
I love atmospheric rainy, misty photos they have so much mystery and atmosphere
I feel the same way. And walking into this fog was a trip!
Can be confronting not knowing what lies ahead
Exactly! It’s comforting and exciting all at once.
Seeing as it’s still hot here in Florida…this photo looks nice and chilly to me…looks like fun, lol.
Spooky! I love that fog
Wonderful! Very mysterious…
Thanks
ooh so mysterious and atmospheric, like a veil between worlds, I almost expect someone or something to step out of the fog
“a veil between worlds” I like that!
