A Serious Threat?

On my walk today I spied this sign.

I don’t actually know what anti-climb paint is, but to be honest it doesn’t scare me that much.

What’s at the top of this fence is more terrifying.

Why don’t they have a sign warning people about the possibility of being impaled? Or tetanus.

    This is too funny!

  2. You’re too right – somebody was empaled on a fence here in Sri Lanka today and died … Freaky accidents can happen anywhere, any time … :)

  3. zelmare says:

Hhmmm…weird. How about anti-fall paint? Or anti-walk paint? Or anti-paint paint… Those spikes look like medieval torture instruments. :)

  4. It makes you wonder if anyone reads those signs before they are made :)

  5. Caroline says:

It looks like a contradiction. If they want to prevent people from climbing, why warn them?

  6. lynnsbooks says:

Tee hee, ‘if the paint doesn’t get you the lethal spikes will’ mwahahaha!
    Lynn :D

  7. Weird I questioned the same sign today. Where does one buy Anti-Climb paint and what other colours are available- anti-run? Anti-jump? Anti-impale?

  8. Ok, being the Google freak that I am, I just had to look this up, and would you believe anti-climb paint has its own entry in Wikipedia?!?! It says, “It is used to prevent climbing on objects such as lampposts, walls and fences. It owes its effectiveness to the fact that it is based on a non-drying oil and keeps the surface greasy and slippery. As an additional advantage, it leaves its mark on the person touching it and hence makes it possible for intruders to be identified….Anti-climb paint continues to work in hot or cold weather conditions adhering to the surfaces to which it is applied….It has a useful lifetime of around three years, after which a fresh coat is recommended.” Wow, who would have thought? LOL!!

Yikes! Never heard of that kind of paint. Those spikes should come with a warning sign!

  10. Fergiemoto says:

    YIKES! Good point! :)
Maybe the paint is too slippery to climb.

  11. Crikey! Dangerous looking spikes… I always get tempted to touch the anti climb paint to see whether it leaves a mark on me :)

  12. nrlymrtl says:

That warning is specifically for Spiderman. I looked it up.

  13. Wow, looks like something from the Dark Ages! When I read the sign, I thought it meant “extra-slippery.” :)
